SETPMF Security Letter - January 2004

In the wake of the September 11 tragedy, the public has expressed concerns about the vulnerability of industrial facilities to potential acts of terrorism. People want to know what is being done at refineries, chemical plants and associated storage terminals to protect workers and nearby residents.

“Industry of the Golden Triangle,” comprised of 52 member companies, places the highest priority on both the security of our facilities and the safety of employees, contractors, vendors, visitors and community neighbors. This will not change.

What has changed, due to recent events, is a heightened awareness of security, which has led to a number of proactive steps at facilities in the Golden Triangle. While the specific actions taken vary from plant to plant, the following provides an overview of what generally is occurring throughout Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties.
