Cleaner Air for Southeast Texas
New Infrared Camera Can See "Invisible Emissions"

New Technology

A recent breakthrough application of infrared technology will help Southeast Texas further improve air quality.

A new powerful tool called the Hawk uses an infrared camera to detect hydrocarbon emissions that would otherwise be invisible to the human eye. Hydrocarbons absorb less sunlight than the surrounding air making them cooler. The Hawk can see the hydrocarbons because it detects a temperature difference.

Good Neighbors-A Newsletter from the Port Arthur Industry and Community Leaders Advisory Group

When we think of tax day most of us think of April 15, when those of us that have to write a check over and above withholdings, take a late night run to the post office to begrudgingly mail our tax return to the Internal Revenue Service. But there is also another very important tax day; It's January 31. This is the date that property taxes are paid to Jefferson County. Property taxes support local governmental entities that provide services like schools, roads, water, sewer, parks, recreation, police and fire protection.

THE SOUTHEAST TEXAS ALERTING NETWORK (STAN) HAS BEEN ACTIVATED!!!

Industry of the Golden Triangle has activated a new emergency notification system for you and
your family. This system provides recorded emergency and general messages about industry and transportation incidents in Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties.

The system is known as the Southeast Texas Alerting Network, STAN for short. It can be reached by dialing a toll-free number—1-877-The-STAN or 1-877-843-7826.
Members of Industry of the Golden Triangle have pledged to place emergency messages on the STAN Line within 15 minutes of the start of an event. We know this is an ambitious timetable and there will probably be bumps in the road along the way, but we recognize our obligation to provide information about emergencies in a timely fashion.

A unique feature of STAN is that emergency messages are automatically provided to the broadcast news media in the area. Local news media have partnered with industry in developing the system, and their pledge is to immediately scroll messages at the bottom of the screen when
an emergency requires neighbors to either shelter-in-place or evacuate.
